All call for 4:30 pm today! Our Vision: By inspiring greatness, all students will realize their worth and potential. Our Mission: At Union-Scioto School District, students will learn, lead and make a difference. Our Motto: Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders. Family sport passes are available at the administration office. See Teresa Brown if interested. Family pass is $200 for family, $125 for single adult, and $75 for single student. All ticket prices are $5 with exception of $3 dollars for Senior Citizens. If your child rides a school bus and it is running late, please check our district website under the live feed and any of our Facebook pages as we will not always have the ability to make an all-call. Typically, if the bus is late it will be approximately 15-25 minutes and if parents become concerned, please check our live feed and Facebook pages first. There’s a new scare in the air at Unioto this year. The Unioto Drama Club presents a new ghostly experience filled with spooky boo goodness. The event will open for only two weekends, October 22-23 and 29-30 from 7pm to Midnight. The haunted house was designed and scripted by the students of Unioto Drama Club with direction from Faculty Advisor, Frank Elliott. Prior to becoming a teacher, Elliott designed and built haunted house props and sets for clients nationwide as a part of his own production company. “We have a lot in store for this year’s Spooky Boo Weekends.” Said Elliott. Featured this year will be “Murdock’s Manor”, a creepy house haunted by the spirit of the late Lady Murdock and some of her less fortunate friends. Other attractions will include an escape room, carnival style games, refreshments and more. Proceeds will support future projects for the Unioto Drama Club and Choirs. Please plan to come out and support these terrific kids and prepare for some fright filled fun and fantastically fearful festivities! For more information, check out the Unioto Vocal and Theatre Website at https://felliott48.wixsite.com/mysite. Congratulations to our MS football team and coaches for an undefeated season and SVC champs!! Congratulations to our boys and girls soccer teams for being undefeated in SVC play and multiple gold balls over the years...too many to even count (4 years in a row for the girls)!! I know as excited as many may be for their accomplishments our teams are not even remotely satisfied and desire greater challenges ahead and are focused on a strong, strong tournament season. Great job coaches and players! Congratulations to our boys cross country team for once again dominating our home cross country invitational that hosted over 20 teams from all over. Boys finished 1st!! Girls finished 3rd and congratulations to our MS boys with a 1st place finish! Friday, October 22 our district will be participating in a mock full scale district evacuation drill which will include the local law enforcement and a brief closure of Moundsville Rd during the drill. The drill takes approximately an hour to complete. No school for students on Monday, October 18. Staff will be participating in professional development. Enjoy the extended weekend! I think these extended weekends are just as disappointing to me as it is to our students! Relax students Tuesday will be here before you know it! Try to make the best of your extra day off from school but it is not a day off from learning. Remember, make each and every day count! As challenging as it may be to miss a Monday of school, know that you should always look for the good in all of your circumstances. They say things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out. Take a walk of gratitude on Monday. When you get up in the morning or in the afternoon just take a walk and think about anything and everything you have to be grateful for. Trust me it will brighten your day and if not your entire day at least a good part of your day. I read the other day that there is some real utility in gratitude. It’s also a good protection against the dangers of victimhood and resentment. I will say again...there is some real utility in gratitude. It is a good protection against the dangers of victimhood and resentment. With all the ugliness that seems to make it to the forefront of our media outlets, social media, and even some of our conversations it is important to stay focused being the best you can be and thankful for all of the wonderful blessings provided to us. It’s easy to get caught up in the negative, your problems, lack of fairness, and all the terrible circumstances that beset you. Remind yourself, when it is the toughest for you, that is when you need to be the toughest. You are way stronger than you think and there is way more to you than you may realize. Keep your chin up and face the challenges before you voluntarily with the confidence you can do it and if you happen to fail it is only your step closer to finding your best you. 3 days til Monday!! Carry your own weather!! Hard work works!! Audit your circle!! Go Tanks!!

I would like to compliment our students, families, and staff for their continued effort and diligence to minimize covid cases and quarantines. Continue to do your best to social distance during school, events, and activities. Our local health department encourages everyone to wear a mask as much as possible. We continue to offer masks to any student needing one. Thank you once again for keeping our students safe and in school. We can and will do this!! Family sport passes are available at the administration office. See Teresa Brown if interested. Family pass is $200 for family, $125 for single adult, and $75 for single student. All ticket prices are $5 with exception of $3 dollars for Senior Citizens. A special thanks to our administrative and central office staff! We appreciate each of you for your contribution to our students, families, and school district. Very appreciative of their dedication, work ethic, and commitment to our students, staff, and school district. Thank you! Any student in grades 4-12 interested in orchestra please contact Mr. Jonathan Thorne at jthorne@gotanks.org. It is a wonderful opportunity for our students! Congratulations to Mrs. Domo, 5th grade teachers and current 6th grade students that participated in science fair last school year for once again earning the Governor’s Thomas Edison Award for Excellence in STEM Education for Unioto Elementary! So proud. Hard work works!! Congratulations to our band students and staff for winning the “Battle of the Bands” this year. As always, their performance was very impressive! Nice to see some of our football players supporting our band by attending the competition. Congratulations to our boys cross country team for winning the McGowan Invitation! 1st Place!! Living up to their #1 state ranking!! Finish stronger than you start!! So impressed with our cross country program this year and previous years consistently competing at the state level every year! I would like to commend our student section for supporting our teams and coaches by demonstrating sportsmanship consistently at our events. Furthermore, I am very appreciative of your efforts to assist with cleaning up afterwards. As I have said before, one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is responsibility. It is a gift that keeps on giving to yourself and to others. Thank you student section for being a class act! In my last all-call I mentioned the value in reading great books and the ability to choose your peers. It is worth repeating! Libraries are full of great books from great authors. You can enter into their perspectives, into their worlds, learn new concepts, and engage in self improvement through others by absorbing their knowledge and applying it to your life. There is real utility in reading great books. And yes, you can actually pick your peers. Pick wisely with the books you read. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of unbelievable, creative, highly perceptive and intelligent authors. You can learn from their lives and benefit from their writings and elevate yourself to a different level! Read. Read great books! 3 days til Monday!! Carry your own weather!! Hard work works!! Audit your circle!! Go Tanks!!

I wanted to inform parents we had a modified lockdown at the high school this morning and contacted law enforcement to assist with a potential safety concern. The situation has been resolved and we appreciate the responsiveness and assistance of the law enforcement. Fortunately, there was no safety issue or danger for our students or staff at any time. Thank you.
