A special thanks to Joe Uhrig of Uhrig Financial for sponsoring free admission for all students for this Friday and Saturday’s home basketball game. Thank you!! (January 5th & 6th) Happy New Year students! Happy meaningful & productive New Year! I have had several conversations recently with friends, family, and students about New Year’s resolutions. What are your New Year’s resolutions? What are your goals for the new year? Do you follow through with your new goals even after a brief time or when the excitement and energy wanes? What lofty goal are you going to attempt this year and not follow through with? I am sure we all at some point have experienced the excitement of setting goals and for whatever reason, we simply do not follow through. A new year can heighten the awareness and desire to improve yourself in some or many areas. It comes with hope and excitement, a new beginning, a fresh start, and an opportunity to accomplish all the wonderful goals you have established. You may have said to yourself something like: This is going to be the year. This year I am going to do it. I may have failed in the past or not followed through with my resolutions, but I will this time. This is going to be my year! I certainly can attest to saying those statements to myself at times. Some advice shared with me that might be helpful in this area is to set your goal or New Year’s resolution(s) low enough that even the worst of you can accomplish it. Be big enough (mature) to be small enough (less prideful) to recognize lowering your goal increases the likelihood of success. Obviously. Not saying don’t set high goals. Be realistic. Set attainable goals, understanding who you are and what you will actually do. With any goal, regardless of what it might be, progress or improvement is your meta goal. In the game of goals, progress/improvement is your overarching goal. So, no matter how small or slow, if you are progressing and improving, you are becoming more of who you can be. You are getting closer to your best. You are better today than you were yesterday and will be a little better tomorrow. Incremental progress can be so powerful! It can also push you to accomplish even more. Once a person starts to recognize the improvements and the value that comes with that, the more motivated and encouraged they can become. You will go so far as a person and improve to the point that when you look back you don’t even recognize who you used to be. One small step at a time can lead to exponential growth. Keep this in mind, you are not perfect. Is anyone perfect? Of course not. Understand that failure will be part of the process but that doesn’t mean you are not worthy of improving. Don’t beat yourself up when you fall short, just continue with the small steps forward. It’s an opportunity to start again a bit more knowledgeable than the last time. Be excited for the new year and who you will become! Please enjoy the video about the key to progress. https://www.instagram.com/p/C1CzkE0PLjL/ Students responding to this all-call with a brief description of what they learned about progress and name the person in the video by 4:00 pm on Tuesday, January 9 will be entered into a drawing for a chance at some AirPods Pro, Apple Watch, and gift cards! It pays to progress and listen!! Compliments of Blake Lloyd of North Fork Animal Clinic for gift options for our students. Thank you! Go Tanks!!

"The Ohio School Safety Center (OSSC) is aware of online threats of violence that have been made to Ohio schools today that are similar to threats made in other states recently. The OSSC is actively working with the Statewide Terrorism Analysis and Crime Center and Federal Bureau of Investigation as well as schools and local law enforcement to support their efforts in the investigation of these threats. While some of the threats have been determined to be false through law enforcement investigation, the OSSC takes all threats to schools seriously and recommends that schools and first responders do the same." - Ohio School Safety Center Please know we have not received any types of threats toward our school buildings, staff, or students, and local law enforcement is monitoring the situation with plans to have additional resource officers in our buildings today for added security. It has been determined the threats made against Ohio schools and across the nation have been deemed not credible. If necessary, we will provide additional information at a later time and, as always, the safety of our students and staff are our top priority. Thank you.

Tuesday, November 21 is an early release day to begin our Thanksgiving break. School will resume on Monday, November 27! Students in the spirit of Thanksgiving next week it is always helpful to remember the value of being thankful and grateful for all that you have and in some cases don’t have. It is easy and maybe somewhat natural to focus on the negatives, problems, and disadvantages you may have and it can become natural, or even a habit, to view yourself as a victim. Pay close attention to your thinking. Do you take responsibility for your day? Do you take responsibility for your effort, your thinking, your circumstances, your emotions, and your attitude? Or do you blame, make excuses, or complain? Responsibility: Response-ability. It is two words. Response and ability. Responsibility is your ability to respond to the circumstances in your life. You may not always be to blame or responsible for what has happened to you but you always have the ability to choose your response. Always! How response able are you? As we all know, the weather is heading towards much colder temperatures, and maybe some snow and ice. It won’t be sunny and 75 every day with an abundant amount of sunshine. And yes, unfortunately, for all of us maybe even a few school cancellations are in the near future. This I know is terribly concerning for our students!! Regardless of the temperatures, the circumstances in your life, school closings, difficulties, problems, etc. you can be proactive in your thinking and have a mindset of positivity, responsibility, and complete control of your response towards anything and everything you encounter. This is what it means to carry your own weather! It can always be sunny and 75 in your mind when you carry your own weather! No matter what happens to you in your life you can always choose to “carry your own weather”. When you learn this approach and adopt it into your thinking you will naturally become more thankful and grateful. Each of us has unbelievable difficulties and challenges in our lives. Some more than others. Some way more than others. I heard an analogy the other day that all of us are given a hand of cards to play in life. We all play from the same deck and are given our hand of cards to play. Yes, some are better than others and we all get to play our hand. Be thankful and grateful for the hand you have been dealt. Play it to the best of your ability. Respond to the best of your ability. Remember, every day is good. Some are better than others but every day is good. You are 100% successful at surviving your worst of days! Be thankful and carry your own weather!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gH9aij9g1sA - Carry your own weather! Students responding to this all-call with a brief description of what it means to “carry your own weather” and what you learned from watching the video by 4:00 pm on Monday, November 20 will be entered into a drawing for some nice prizes! It pays to listen!! Go Tanks!!
