Reminder about the "Kids Play Zone" and general attendance for Friday night's football game: As a parent, you understand that by opting to allow your child to participate in this area or attend the game, you are assuming full responsibility for the conduct and well-being of your child. As with all extracurricular events and activities, parents are responsible for the supervision of their child at all times. Union-Scioto LSD is not liable for injuries sustained during a child’s participation in the play zone. Also, please know any Middle School or Elementary student will not be permitted to attend the football game without being accompanied by a parent or adult.

All-call for 4:00 pm today! Our Vision: By inspiring greatness, all students will realize their worth and potential. Our Mission: At Union-Scioto School District, students will learn, lead, and make a difference. Our Motto: Today’s Learners, Tomorrow’s Leaders. There is nothing better than having problems to solve! Every problem is an opportunity. It shouldn’t even be characterized as a problem because it really never is. It is an opportunity. So we have some good news and bad news. Good news: We would like to announce the grass area will be open at this Friday night’s football game north of the home bleachers for students to play. Thanks to a partnership with some local businesses, our National Honor Society students, advisors, and volunteers will provide supervision for the children during the game. We are very thankful for the following sponsors for supporting our idea to serve our Unioto families during the game: Neil Coleman Insurance, Herbie Strange with State Farm, Jim’s Cycle Service, Old Man’s Group (OMG), Dwell Real Estate, Scioto Valley Dumpsters, Greenwalt Landscaping, All Signs, Kingston Bank, Chillicothe Screen and Printing, Unioto Athletic Boosters, and First American Insurance Agency have all sponsored this for Friday's game. The sponsor monies will support the NHS student club and serve as one of their fundraisers. Parents will need to pay/donate $2 per child to participate with those monies supporting our NHS students and their club. We hope families appreciate our efforts to provide a safe area for children to play and enjoy their time at the game. Furthermore, know that their small fee will be going to a great cause. Our students! NHS students will earn community service hours as well. Please know we are experimenting with this with the hopes we can continue it next year versus closing the area altogether. We would appreciate any local businesses, organizations, and parents interested in supporting this for next year to please let us know. We will need sponsors, activity groups, and volunteers to continue with the program next year if it proves to be successful. Bad news: We have learned that we had over 120 elementary & middle school students dropped off for the football game without being accompanied by a parent or an adult. Unfortunately, parents have been dropping off children and not attending the game. Obviously, this is a significant safety issue and concern. Please know this is not permissible. No middle school or elementary students are to be in attendance without a parent or adult. No students will be able to be in the parking lot area or playing with any type of ball anywhere on the campus with the exception of the area we have designated as the play area. Nice performance orchestra students with your concert performance earlier in the week. I was not able to attend but was told it was a wonderful performance. So, great job students and Mr. Thorne! A reminder our fall band concert is scheduled for Tuesday, October 10 at 6 pm at the MS/HS auditeria. Hope to see you there! Next Friday, October 13 we will have a 2-hour early release for students and it is the end of the 1st 9 weeks of the school year! Go Tanks!!
